The DTTG is an association of clay researchers and clay users, mainly from Germany, Austria and Switzerland. It was founded on 28 March 1972 in Kiel from the former "Working Group on Clay Minerals" (Arbeitsgemeinschaft Tonminerale) funded by the DFG (German Research Foundation) and is an association registered in Germany under the name "Deutsche Ton- und Tonmineralgruppe".
